Strangeface Theater Company

I went to see Strangefaces production of 'Pinocchio' at the Owen Street Community Arts Center.
I was fascinated by the way the theater set folded out and formed extra acting spaces for the telling of the story.

      I would highly recommend  that someone goes to see this troupe in action, if not for the truly amazing performance then for the unique access to roam about the set afterward and even try on the masks!

Getting up to speed

As my second post I think I ought to get up to speed on where I am in my Project(s).
My main focus has been experimenting with new processes and medias, as shown by my use of Cellulose Thinner on photocopies of Damien Hirsts works that I saw at the Tate Modern in London over the holidays.

This is a print of Hirsts' 'Pharmacy' I think it came out better than most of the others and is easily my favorite of the prints I did with this method.

The process involves the transfer of printing inks and toners from a photocopied, or printed image using Cellulose Thinner. You place the image face down onto a piece of paper/card/fabric and using a brush apply Cellulose Thinner firmly to the back, this will transfer some of the ink from the print onto the chosen material. The final effect is an ethereal, aged print which looks really charming.

The next thing I am going to post about is my Mad Science Laboratory I have going  on in my area. I originally gained my inspiration from two areas, the initial one being the discovery of chemistry gear in the Art Block, the second being my Warhammer. The character Fabius Bile has always perked my curiosity, most notably my inspiration was his chirurgeon. Fabius Bile is a character that has been built around the character Frankenstein and the Nazi Doctor Josef Mengele to produce a truly horrifying background for him, to suitably set him up as the evil mad scientist in a dark Millennium.

I drew up a couple of designs to begin with, one of which being in the form of a chandelier, the other being wall mounted. In the end I settled for the later for ease of production.
